Intuiting of the Future and the Past / Tempus
Temporal Intuiting
Essence: deep intuitive perception of hidden, deteriorating, and crisis-bound dynamics in oneself, others, and the world.
Intuiting of trajectories, divining before it becomes visible where a situation is heading, gravitating toward what is concealed, fractured, or approaching crisis. The inner world replaces outer reality as the primary site of genuine experience - fantasies vastly more vivid and large-scale than anything available in real life.
Manifests as withdrawn, detached, and contemplative behavior.
Informational Level: inner fantasy life, dark imaginings, predictions, dynamic complex detailed internal visual imagery, reading of subtle tendencies toward decay and ending.
Social Level: silent reflector of group undercurrents, deliberate destabilizer, detached probe of hidden tensions.
Psychological Level: premonitions, rumination, dissociation, masochistic pull, envy, contempt for the outer world, chronic non-belonging.
Physical Level: sad or hollow eyes, detached through-and-past gaze, postures of surrender, affectless and lifeless body, nourishment neglect, minimal movement.
The core emotion of this function is fear - and from it emerges the primary behavioral strategy: when threat is perceived, the response is stillness. Invisibility. Make oneself undetectable until the danger passes. What cannot be overcome must not be noticed. The function does not act into the future - it waits, knowing what is coming, having built the image of it in interior space.
Others are observed more than engaged - their hidden motives read with accuracy, their weaknesses noted with detachment shading into quiet satisfaction at their unraveling. The same orientation turns inward: deliberate exposure to damage and pain held as instrument.
Extreme manifestations: anhedonia, alientation, derealization, bodily self-abandonment, catastrophic absorption, suicidal ideation, masochism.
Mystic (+): explores temporal possibilities through rich imagination, moving freely between memories, anticipations, and fantasy scenarios. Naturally orients toward hopeful, beautiful futures - imagining outcomes that reality rarely matches in vividness or richness. Contemplates gradual transformations over time with deep empathic immersion in others' inner lives. Prioritizes meaning, beauty, and inner imagery.
Temporal reverie
Skeptic (−): exercises cautious foresight by recalling similar patterns and mistakes from the past. Waits patiently for the right moment, anticipating what history suggests is likely inevitable. Warns others based on remembered precedents, with a characteristically pessimistic coloring - past experience tends to confirm that things will go wrong in familiar ways. Prefers advance detection of danger over confrontation.
